The short version: We want everyone to be able to add a memory, build a book and order it, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification or other assistive technology. If anything on this site gets in your way, tell us. We'll help you finish what you came to do, and we'll fix the problem.
Our Goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard most widely used for accessible websites. Accessibility is ongoing work, and we keep improving as we build.
What We Do
- Labeled forms — Every field on the memory, recipe and project forms has a label a screen reader can read aloud.
- Keyboard access — Menus, buttons and choices can be reached with the Tab key and used with Enter or Space, with a visible outline showing where you are.
- Image descriptions — Images on our pages have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they don't get in the way.
- Zoom and phones — Pages work when zoomed in, and you can pinch to zoom on a phone.
- Regular testing — We check the site with automated accessibility testing when we make updates.
Where We're Still Working
- The photobook editor — Designing pages is a visual, drag-and-drop tool, and some parts of it need a mouse or touch screen. If that's a barrier for you, reach out and we'll help lay out your book with you.
- Photos shared by contributors — Photos people add to a book come with their names, captions and stories, but not always a written description of what's in the picture.
Need Help or Found a Problem?
Please tell us which page you were on and what happened. We'll get back to you within a week, and we're happy to help you add a memory, share photos or place an order another way in the meantime.
